About us
There were countless little things about her that made her the ultimate muse for Torani. But mostly it was her simplicity and a certain timeless charm that left a haunting memory on his mind. As a natural progression, he always found a connect with Indian looms, crafts ; travelling through the country to find a similar sense of comfort in his clothes. This journey took him over 6 years, where he travelled and mapped different ends of the country studying these crafts to perfection. From Bihar’s Madhubani to Gujarat’s bandhej; from Chanderi to Kolkata’s fine mulmul.
Learning the fascinating tales of Hindu gods ; goddesses from your elders was a usual
routine in the early 90’s in northern India. Whether it was your grandma putting you to sleep
with tales of Krishna’s mischief or watching Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana on television.
The fables of Indian mythology and its legendary characters had a deep resonance with
Karan. One such divine tale was about Airavata. The seven trunked white elephant that flies
in the skies and showers rains with Lord Indra. It was one of those many characters that
found a lasting impression on his mind and somehow became a symbol of nostalgia and our logo for TORANI.

About the Brand
Our brand believes fashion to be an expression of one’s individuality. With a vision to articulate a modern touch on traditional roots that we have left behind in the fast moving world, every single attire is throughly thought out and intricately made by local artisans who precisely understand the details and bring out the inspiration through their craftsmanship.
We value ethical sourcing and work majorly with handwoven fabrics with each piece being hand dyed, we like to take a mindful approach and keep the quality intact. Every piece of scrap fabric finds its way to innovation. We believe in upsycling by repurposing the use of even the tiniest piece of fabric.
While designing our collection we visualize the strong and bold women in the society who are not afraid to pull anything off. We appreciate all body types, skin colors and races; therefore, extending our horizons to wherever you want to make style and comfort meet.
